Privacy Policy for Smart File Manager

Thank you for choosing to use Smart File Manager (“we”, “us”, or “our”). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information our application collects, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it.

By using Smart File Manager, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect and Access

Smart File Manager is a local utility application designed to help you organize and manage the files on your Android device. To provide these features, we request specific device permissions.

A. All Files Access (`MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE`)

To function as a file manager, the app requires the “All Files Access” permission.

Why we need it: This permission allows the app to scan, categorize (Images, Videos, Audio, Documents, etc.), move, copy, rename, and delete files across your device’s storage.
How it is used: All file scanning and management is performed strictly locally on your device. We do not upload, sync, or transmit your personal files, photos, videos, or documents to our servers or any third-party cloud services.

B. Installed Applications (`QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES`)

The app features an “App Manager” that allows you to view and backup installed applications to standalone APK files.

Why we need it: We query the list of applications installed on your device to display them in the App Manager and facilitate the backup/extraction process.
How it is used: This data is used solely within the app on your local device. We do not transmit or share your installed app list with anyone.

C. Secure Vault (Local Encryption)

The app provides a “Secure Vault” feature to help you protect sensitive files with a PIN.

How it works: Files moved to the Vault are encrypted locally on your device using Android’s Keystore system. We do not store your PIN, nor do we have access to your encrypted files or a backdoor to decrypt them.
Data Loss Warning: Because this encryption is strictly local and secure, if you forget your PIN, your encrypted files cannot be recovered by us or anyone else. Uninstalling the app, resetting the Vault, or clearing the app’s data may also permanently delete the Vault’s encryption keys, resulting in the permanent loss of the vaulted files.

2. Third-Party Services, Analytics, and Advertising

While we do not collect personal data directly, we use third-party services that may collect anonymous data to help us monitor app stability, improve performance, and serve advertisements.

A. Analytics and Crash Reporting

We use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to monitor app usage, track stability, and identify bugs.

What is collected: If the app crashes, Crashlytics automatically collects anonymous crash reports. Analytics collects basic app interaction data (such as which screens are visited) and a unique installation ID. This includes non-personally identifiable information such as your device model, operating system version, and technical logs detailing the state of the app when an error occurred.
Why we use it: This diagnostic and usage data is strictly used to help us fix bugs, optimize performance, and understand how users interact with the app to improve the overall experience.

B. Advertising ID

Our application declares the use of the Android Advertising ID.

What is collected: The Advertising ID is a unique, user-resettable ID for advertising and analytics provided by Google Play Services.
Why we use it: We use the Advertising ID strictly for app analytics and to serve advertisements.
User Control: You can reset your Advertising ID or opt-out of personalized ads at any time through your Android device settings (Settings > Google > Ads).

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your personal information or local files with third parties.

Because Smart File Manager operates entirely offline (with the exception of anonymous crash reporting and advertising identifiers), your personal files remain completely under your control and on your device.

4. Security of Your Information

We prioritize the security of your data. The application is built using secure Android APIs and modern development practices to ensure that your files are handled safely. However, please remember that no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

5. Children’s Privacy

Our application does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Given the nature of the app, all processing happens locally, and we do not require users to create accounts or provide personal details.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
